Gospel of Luke – chapter 7 A centurion, a widow and a sinful woman

Jesus in Luke 7 shows compassion to a Gentile centurion, to a widow and now doubly bereaved woman, and to a sinful woman.

And the dominant theme is faith that has no racial or gender gaps.

The witnesses to these stories react in one of two ways:

the crowds would acknowledge the events as evidence of a divine visitation – Luke 7:16 (NLT) 16 Great fear swept the crowd, and they praised God, saying, “A mighty prophet has risen among us,” and “God has visited his people today.”

Regarded with suspicion by Simon the Pharisee – Luke 7:39 (NLT) 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”

Luke calling for faith response to this Jesus. Wonder how you’ll respond today.
