What qualifies someone to be the greatest? The GOAT? The MVP?
This week basketballer LeBron James finally eclipsed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the most prolific scorer in NBA history, breaking what was thought to be an unbreakable 39 year record.
Standing at 2.06 metres the Los Angeles Lakers LeBron playing his 20th season passed Abjul Jabbar’s longstanding total of 38,387 pts when he nailed a 21 foot fade away jumper late in the third quarter.
But if you want to go ‘super supreme’ then look no further than Jesus Christ in the book of Hebrews. He’s:
- better than the angels (1:4–2:18),
- better than the leaders (3:1–4:13),
- better than the priests (4:14–7:28)
- a better covenant (8:1–13),
- a better sanctuary, (9:1–10),
- a better sacrifice for sins (9:11–10:18).
Included in this idea of “better” better hope/witness/promise sacrifice
Hebrews 1:1–4 (NLT) 1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son.
