White Ribbon Sunday – domestic abuse 2

White Ribbon Sunday. A couple of weeks ago we launched into the weighty subject of domestic abuse and from the conversations since it was a timely message. And I began with a confession and an apology.

My apology is that I’m a male and males are the primary perpetrators when it comes to domestic abuse. Secondly, I’m a pastor. And what’s been coming out of the royal commission into child sexual abuse is that churches haven’t always heard and acknowledged the cries of the hurting, and acted accordingly…

Psalm 55:12-13 (ESV) 12 For it is not an enemy who taunts me— then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me— then I could hide from him. 13 But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend.
